Simone Poetscher is on a mission to empower scientists and engineers to succeed in proactively designing the future they see for themselves. Through the Outdoing Myself Portfolio, she leads scientists and engineers from overwhelm to success.
Simone is a former science diplomat, a consultant & success partner, a sought-after speaker, and a captivating podcast host. As the Founder & Success Partner at Thrycon LLC, she focuses on inextricably linking scientific excellence AND personal fulfillment for stakeholders in science, technology & innovation (STI).
Working in STI for almost two decades, Simone has been supporting partners in industry, startups, non-profits, public service, associations, and educational institutions across the globe, so their team members can achieve success in life & work through self-accountability, the power of networking, and peer-to-peer support.
Simone’s initiatives and tailored support portfolio have, for example, resulted in a tenfold increase in member satisfaction and participant numbers for a global scientist network, which connects researchers of all academic stages, including Nobel laureates and C-level executive members.
Simone has also succeeded as host of “The Outdoing Myself Podcast,” one of the highest-rated podcasts in the self-development space, and regularly mentors startup founders and emerging leaders in S&T through various startup programs.
In recent years, Simone has supported the Association of International Educators – NAFSA, served as an Advisory Council Member at George Washington University School of Business, and has also shared her expertise with various non-profit organizations, including Atlas Corps and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as a volunteer, committee chair, and board member. From 2006 to 2021, she worked at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC, in the science office, which she headed as director from 2019 to 2021.
Simone is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and received a co-joined master’s degree in communications and English from the University of Vienna, Austria. She also earned a certificate in project management from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, a certificate in financial management from Cornell University, New York, a certificate in executive leadership from Cornell University, New York, and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida, Florida. Simone is a member of the Project Management Institute and the Worldwide Association of Female Professionals.
